Weekend x 5

I was paid last Friday which seems like a year ago and I just worked out that there are four weekends left before the next payday. Five weekends in one month? I don’t think it should be allowed.

So consequently I am unable to let Tom buy the bits to make me a new computer and I have to make do with what I have which is not very much. I need more RAM and a USB and a Network card, then I need broadband, and to utilise my present from America - a Wireless router - oooh.

I’m not quite sure what it does but I think it means Tom will be able to spend time at my house without looking a bit lost…and he has also told me it is an absolute essential in any household.

Perhaps tomorrow I will tell you about my other present, if you are very lucky.

meaning?

You know the classic interpretation of the train *Wink wink* going into the tunnel dream? Well last night I dreamt that I was travelling on a classic steam train (into the Ukraine incidentally but I don’t think that was relevant) and we were carrying a really tall pylon type thing on the train, upright. We then went in a tunnel and smashed it (the tunnel) to pieces until we came to a halt. The pylon also toppled over. Ouch.

tall man

This man is 8ft 4in!!!!!!!!! His feet are size TWENTY THREE so I could fit 4 of my feet in one of his shoes. He also seems to have a tree growing through his roof, which somehow makes sense.

routes on Annapurna

I am a bit confused about how climbers map routes up snowy mountains. An article on MountEverest.net shouts about how a new route has been found on Annapurna in the Himalayas (the picture on the right shows the classic route as a red dotted line and the new route in green. I think the photo on the left just shows old ropes some careless climbers left behind). Surely there must be a million different routes you could take, just by taking a side step. I wonder what the rules are.

monkey

While in Tom Smith’s car the other day he told me many interesting things one of which was…

it was last tuesday, i had the afternoon off. i was rolling down winterstoke
road on my (broken) bike towards halfords, and i was just by the alphabet
zoo (big nursery) when a man (i assume) in a really poor monkey outfit ran
across my path to do monkey-type actions towards the stationary traffic.

due to the lack of all-round vision afforded by the oversize head, he ran
into my path, casuing me to shout out ‘oi, watch it monkey!’

fondue

I lost my fondue (cheese) virginity last night and I kind of wish i’d kept it. Not quite sure I can see the point and I can still taste it, along with my alcohol breath….ew. When very drunk and hilarious last night I nearly commented on someones blog with the funniest comment ever written! haha but I decided to do a little experiment and wrote it on some paper and this morning read the most random, unfunny thing ever. Let that be a lesson.

I just called my boss mum. I wanted to show her something and said “mum - look at this”. Then I went bright red and laughed a lot.

who changed the plugs?

I worked out that if I wasn’t having broadband I could get unlimited internet, unlimited phone AND digital TV for less than I am paying now. Not that I really want the TV bit but I would be effectively getting it free (also I wouldn’t really have time to do all of those things UNLIMITED). Chatting to Paul he said I needed a particular socket in my TV which I don’t have! When did they change all the sockets? I guess they need to do it every few years to get people to buy more stuff…..

antique

I really do have an antique computer so it looks like I am keeping my dial up connection. Telewest say I definitely don’t meet the minimum requirements for broadband and I definitely don’t have a USB port. If I was using it all day I would invest in something new but I have super high speed at work and it is not essential I have it at home.

I do have a nice clean room and blooming spring garden though.

Sprung

So my mum and dad are in Yosemite National Park enjoying hot heat, Tom is in NYC enjoying the snow and I am in my flat enjoying the spring.

Today is officially the first day of spring so kate and I had a good spring clean and gave my room a total makeover. We found loads of money and other interesting things which I may just put here tomorrow when I get over the fact that my computer doesn’t have a USB port….argh

My spring window garden has also sprung and the first daffodil appeared today. How absolutely satisfying.

iSee

With Tom being in NYC I wanted to find some CCTV camera feeds so I could see live pictures of the snow (ew that sounds really stalker like). Instead I found iSee, a mapping system for people who want to avoid the massive amounts of CCTV cameras in Manhattan. You just type in your journey start and end point and they tell you which route to take! There are also plans to introduce this in London, one of the most CCTV saturated cities in the world.

1976 was the year we were at our happiest. I wonder if that’s because I was born! I think Tom Smith was born in that year and possibly Sophie too.

In his clever way Tom set up the GeoURL link for me so you can now see links to the websites in my part of Bristol. Interesting, but probably only if you live there too.
