Tom’s mini cars

To celebrate the fact I have a new (Tom’s old) pc (on loan) and therefore USB which means I can use the new lead for my phone (a present from Tom) which means I can get the photos off my phone, please enjoy this series of Polish cars (i think therefore this post deserves to be named after Tom).

want a story man?

I think you should listen to the Storyman with Andrew Clover. He creates fairytales with various well known people. I can’t really explain exactly what he does you just have to listen. A very good one was with Tracey Emin. If 11.30 on a thursday night is too late for you you can listen again.

triple A

Triplets

I’m sure these triplets appear in the news every year, all getting triple A A levels and all going to Cambridge.

I am speaking to applicants today who are looking for places in clearing and so far 95% of people wish to study Physiotherapy. I’m getting a bit bored of it.

poo crash

What a lovely weekend cycling the many hills of Devon, some of which are at least 5 miles long. Tom and I cycled 40 miles on Saturday using part road/part Sustrans tracks. I had a mini crash when Tom pointed out he was switching to the other side of the track to avoid some poo. I decided to do the same but my road bike didn’t react like his mountain bike and it didn’t enjoy crossing the grass in the middle. I sort of stopped and then just fell horizontally. It happened too quickly for me to take my foot out the peddle. I have some very colourful bruising.

We had a picnic on Woolacombe beach and went swimming in the sea. Then we cycled to Illfracombe and admired the Landmark Theatre on the seafront.

Landmark Theatre

If you ever cycle to Illfracombe make sure you arrange a lift up the hill. Actually that goes for Woolacombe, Croyde and Barnstaple too.

speedy teeth

I had a lesson in speed dentistry this morning. My first appointment in a very long time on my new NHS dentist. I had a check-up, a scale (no polish in the NHS) and x-rays. It came to £20. It probably took about 10mins. I’m not sure it was the most thorough check up I have ever had but all I want is for someone to tell me if there is anything drastically wrong and not charge me £60 for it. I think he is still registering NHS patients so if anyone is looking then let me know and I will tell you where to find him.

bristols

Today I had to take a picture of some radio people in the centre but one of us noted down the wrong date and there was no one there to take a picture of.

So I decided to take some general pics of Bristol in the sun for work and got on the boat home. There was a foursome on the boat, two girls and two boys, probably late 20s. One very buxome lady stood at the front of the boat and took her top off and waved and screamed almost the whole way back, showing the world her white lace bra. She was modest enough to cover up at the SS Great Britain but then whipped the top off again. Imagine the surprise of everyone on the boat when a gust of wind caught her top and dropped it in the water. Imagine my surprise when she said to her friend “I can’t go in the pub like this” and her friend whipped her own top off and gave it to her, revealing an even more risky lace bra.

Then I got chatting to a man with tourrets

I am on my seventh day of socialising (under the Tom Smith rules) but I think I am going to blow it today as I have nothing lined up, except a visit from my landlord. Tom Smith said this is business and not social so it doesn’t count.

I am hoping to find a loophole as I have a new flat mate, a totally new person (that makes her sound like a baby but she isn’t) so effectively I am socialising with her all the time at the moment. I think after one week she then becomes just a flatmate and it is just living behaviour rather than social behaviour.

My social behaviour of yesterday was with Tom, a bike ride and a picnic. There was much statistical analysis as we both now have bike computers. My fastest speed was 26.6mph (faster than Tom by .4 of a mile). I cycled 27 miles in total. We both had an odometer stat and we just couldn’t work out what it measured but having read about odometers on the wikipedia I am still none the wiser as mine read 90miles and Tom’s read about 30miles.

Now I am in work and I just overheard this conversation;

lady What did you do this weekend?
young man Um….what did I do, what did I do….well I bought some cheese
lady you bought some cheese?
young man yeah I’ve never bought cheese before.

Mr Gardiner

I have just been reading about the caves below Redcliffe in Bristol. There are some really good photos of the caves and of images and writing scratched into the wall. I found this one with the text:

“In 1868 whilst a tunnel was being driven through Redcliffe to develop the docks railway a forgotten part of Redcliffe Caves was rediscovered. One November night a party of Victorian adventurers explored this lost portion of the caves. In a small chamber at the limit of their exploration they carved their names into the rock. After much investigation I found the obituary of Mr Gardiner, he was a surgeon for the Great Western Railway who lived at No. 1 Colston Parade. ”

I wonder if I am related to him. I want to arrange a tour. Would anyone be interested? £25 per tour so the more people go the less it will be. Tuesday or Wednesday night. I am going to have my photo taken with that scratching.

Wedding wedding wedding

My brother got married this weekend which means I am now a sister-in-law. I will find out tomorrow when I download the pictures if it was wise to be sister of the groom and the chief photographer.

There was lots of lovely wine and great speaches. There was a new generation of uncle dancing at the wedding disco. There was lots of fending off of comments like “taking notes then?” and “giving you any ideas is it?”.

Tom and I pilfered buffet food and bottles of wine and sat in our tent at 1.30am drinking the wine and eating the buffet and breathing in helium. I suspect the other campers really enjoyed our high pitched giggling.
