Oh Jemima look at your Uncle Jim
I am a bit rubbish at remembering words to songs from my childhood but my mum remembers everything she has ever sung. This weekends words go with an opera extract – I can’t remember what – and the words are:
“oh Jemima look at your uncle Jim
He’s in the duck pond learning how to swim
First he does the breast stroke then he does the slide
…….”
sorry can’t remember the rest…mum what’s the last line?
then he does the side…. now he’s under the water swimming against the tide. Sung to the tune of The Soldiers’ Chorus from Faust by Charles Gounod (and unfortunate name)I’ve started singing it again now – thanks
I have been singing it all night and all morning.
The last line is: –
Now his doing the back stroke swimming against the tide!
I think this song goes back a long way to the music hall.
Truly sorry for intruding, but would you know where I can find this song? It is my old gran’s fave, but I can’t find it anywhere – not even on Amazon. Could you please email me if you happen to know where I can find it? Thank you!!! markfernandez4@hotmail.com
