Word dispensary

On my way to work I passed a very old building I hadn’t seen before and it had an inscription on the side saying The read dispensary. I wondered if this was a very old form of library.

Oh but no a little research tells me - 1874 The Read Dispensary, to enable women to consult doctors of their own sex, was opened. It moved in 1907 to new buildings in Anchor Rd./ St. Georges Rd.

Never mind but that is my new name for the library.

I think. It’s at the bottom of Jacobs Wells Road, by a roundabout, near the £1m flats. Is that Anchor road? Maybe I will take a photo and show you.
