coming soon.. the megachallenge

October 9th, 2004

This time next week I will have begun the megaexcurtion, the megachallenge. By this point I will have rendez-vous’d with Sarah, my accomplice, at the Greenline Coach Station in London, terminus of all megabus journeys.

We will each individually arrive from our respective origins, and from there we will continue north on a megabus, taking in Manchester, Glasgow, Perth and arriving at Inverness some 12 hours later.

The total combined (for both of us) journey distances look something like this for the return journey:

Each way:
Brighton – London: 95km
Bristol – London: 192.3km
London – Glasgow: 677km x 2
Glasgow – Inverness: 292.6km x 2

All this x 2 makes a grand total of 4453km.

And what was the cost? About £8.50. For the whole trip, for 2 travellers. That’s a cool 0.002p per kilometer.

We return on Sunday, 2 overnight journeys by bus, and a youth hostel for Saturday, it’s a truly mega-minima experience.

Wish us luck.
