smooth criminal

March 16th, 2005

last night was a late session in the lab, i caught the last train home at 00:15.

after a quick stop at budgens to find something to eat (luckily, covent garden carrot and coriander soup was on special offer), i headed back to my flat, only to be stopped 1 street away by 2 policemen, on foot.

apparently i live in a crime hotspot. i looked suspicious because a) it was late, and b) i was wearing a rucksack. so they questioned me extensively about my evening, took my details, searched my bag and then gave me a copy of the sussex police stop-and-search form. it had the tickbox ticked to say i had been a suspected burglar.

i asked them if i should be worried that i live in a crime hotspot. at this point they fumbled slightly, and said it wasn’t anything to be concerned about and i should just keep my wits about me.

oooh that’s really exciting. I think it’s scary though that now a record exists on you to say you are a suspected burglar.
