weather squiggle
November 10th, 2005
I use the forecastfox plugin for firefox, which tells me about the weather outside – present and predicted for today/tomorrow.
It’s particularly useful for when I’ve been in the (windowless, air-conditioned) lab for a number of hours and want to know what to expect when I walk outside.
Sometimes the weather symbols are wacky, and they surprise me. Today, I was really confused because this one appeared (far right):

I was hoping it was some sort of reference to skidding around in circles on ice, but apparently it means:
‘Cloudy, a shower, very windy’
But can anyone explain it?

I reckon it does look *fairly* descriptive to me, given the infinite options, and the difficulty of pictorially representing ‘very windy’, I think I may well have come up with something similar . . . but if it popped up I’d probably have to check too!

Oh hang on – does it means all three things? That would be a bit odd.

Well it seems to be associated with all 3, but I couldn’t say for sure.
It’s gone away today.
