a word of confusion

March 15th, 2006

Earlier in the year, a number of people thought i was on the radio, on the BBC Radio 4 programme, Word of Mouth. In fact, it was my namesake, who happened to be speaking about something which I might feasibly have known about (in fact I know little about the subject of speech synthesis..).

For a number of weeks I found it funny that people would ask me if I had been on the radio, because they heard a trailer for the show etc.

Months later, the saga continues. This morning I received a CD of the show from the BBC themselves thanking me for my contribution. While this could be a very well crafted practical joke (I think there is only one man who could pull off a stunt with such professionalism), I actually think it is a genuine (but highly amusing) mistake.
