The cost of… what?

During a trip to Brixton today, I couldn’t help compare the price of the items I was purchasing.
Purchase 1: a sealed bag of spring onions, cleaned and prepared for use (courtesy of M&S) – price? £0.99*
Purchase 2: a 4-way power extension lead (courtesy of Woolworths) – price? £2.00
