Hebridean spring
Saturday, May 27th, 2006
After a mammoth few months of non-stop working, last week brought a brief but incredible trip to the Outer Hebrides. After a rail journey to Oban, we caught a ferry to Lochboisdale (South Uist).
We then cycled up through Benbecula, North Uist, Berneray, South Harris, Scalpay and back via Skye.
Photos are now available, […]
it’s a wrap
Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006
In preparation for a forthcoming short trip to the Hebrides, Dawes 2 got a makeover at the weekend.
At last, the red and black marbled handlebar tape was replaced (in a team effort style with sarah) with plain black. And it looks great.
Dawes 2 seemed happy with a clean and miniservice too.
comes from a smoke-free home
Friday, March 31st, 2006
Last night I had my first taste of the smoking ban in public places which started in Scotland on Sunday. It was odd to actually be able to smell a pub, rather than the smoke contained within it. Waking up this morning and not stinking of smoke was also quite odd.

a word of confusion
Wednesday, March 15th, 2006
Earlier in the year, a number of people thought i was on the radio, on the BBC Radio 4 programme, Word of Mouth. In fact, it was my namesake, who happened to be speaking about something which I might feasibly have known about (in fact I know little about the subject of speech synthesis..).

This morning I heard a large bang outside my window.
What was it?
A plank fell out of the sky, of course.
As illustrated in the picture - the plank is suspended in mid air after becoming impaled on the fence outside my bedroom window. It turns out a neighbour 2 doors down has scaffolding […]

the east cursed main line
Thursday, January 19th, 2006
Yesterday I travelled to London for the day, using GNER down the east coast. I think I’m cursed on this line, as the last time I tried to do such a long return journey in one day, I got severely held up (because a Virgin train in front of mine caught fire, causing us to […]
